岩沼市で行われている「千年希望の丘」の整備は、津波に対する多重防御の一環として海沿いに複数の避難丘とそれらを結ぶ園路を築き、法面に広葉樹苗を植栽する緑化事業です。植樹は震災の翌年から始められ、今年で5年が経過しました。樹木の生長状況など現在の様子を、モニタリング結果を踏まえながら紹介します。
