第二次世界大戦と比べると、第一次世界大戦は（日本も参戦したものの）日本にとってそれほど大きな歴史的意味を持っていないと考えられがちです。しかし歴史を精査してみると、第一次世界大戦後の、特にドイツの戦後処理の問題が、第二次世界大戦後の日本の「国のありかた」に大きな影を落としていることが分かります。
