The Sakura Online Program “Connecting with IoT technology” was hosted by Professor Yuan Qiaowei of our university’s Department of Information and Communication Engineering from August 16  to November 18 , 2022.
During the program, a total of five days of online exchanges were held with the participation of Tamkang University in Taiwan and Newcastle University in Singapore.
The program consisted of four parts: five special lectures, introductions of participating universities and IoT research status, IoT app development by students using M5Stack + AI camera, and cultural exchange.
November 13, the final day of the online exchange, three student groups presented the results of their IoT app development.

Special Talks
In the five special talks, Associate Professor Konno of Tohoku University, President Toshio Chen of Yulan Green Technology, Professor AIGUO PATRICK HU of the university of Auckland, Associate Professor GUO Lei of Dalian University of Technology in China, and Associate Professor Jasmin Grosinger of Graz University of Technology gave presentations on IoT technology and related technologies of the IoT.
It was a very meaningful lectures that broadened the students’ research horizons.

Introduction of participating universities and status of IoT research
The participating universities were introduced in terms of their location, features, international exchange, etc., as well as the status of IoT research, giving the students an opportunity to learn about IoT research at other university groups, increasing their mutual interest and motivation for exchange even further.

 

IoT app development with M5Stack + AI camera

In addition to the five days of online exchange, students from the three universities were divided Into three groups and worked on the development of MY IoT system using M5Stack and AI cameras distributed in advance.
On the final day, November 13 (Sunday), each group presented the results of their work.
Some of the students said that they were happy with their final presentations, which included some innovative ideas, due to the difficulties of not being able to conduct them face to face.

Conclusion of international cooperation agreement with SOAS University of London, and participation of our students in SOAS International Summer School

Notice

Tohoku Institute of Technology conclude an international cooperation agreement
with SOAS University of London in this year.
Dr, Cooke Simone from our university went to there and discuss with Dr, William Hetherington.

In addition, three of our students participated in the International Summer School held annually at SOAS.
The program was conducted three weeks from August 22 to September 9.
Through lectures in English and interaction with local people,
they have improved their English skills and enjoyed their life in London.

 

 

 

Join the TNI summer program on Thai-Nichi Institute of technology in Thailand

Notice

TNI summer program was held by Thai-Nichi Institute of Technology for the first time in three years.
One our student joined the program from 24 Aug. 2022 to 1 Sep. 2022.
During the program, he planted mangrove trees, learned about Thailand history and culture and visited Japanese companies in Thailand with TNI students.
They were good experiences for him to acquire a variety of knowledge.
