June 9 2017, we discussed with the Liaoning Technical University in Shenyang, China about student exchange and academic exchanges, and exchanged a memorandum summarizing the contents. On September 21 2018, the president of Liaoning Technical University, Dean of Engineering Division, Dean of International Exchange Center, Dean of Building Engineering Department, Dean of Science Department, Associate Professor Choi (graduate of this university) visited Japan, and both presidents were signed in the agreement of International partnership. After that, they visited the facilities of the Department of Architecture and the library and historical materials center. They were very interested in the earthquake-resistant structure and history of our university. This signing ceremony is expected to further promote exchange between universities in the future.

Two students were joined the summer school 2018 held by Hsusan Chuang University in Taiwan, from 6 Aug. 2018 to 19 Aug. 2018. The program consists of a two-week short-term study where students learn basic Chinese language and visit Taiwan’s historic sites. There was a chance to enjoy cultural exchange with local students, it was good experience for our students, and had a fun time.

Thai-Nichi Institute of Technology holds a summer program every year for recruiting university students in Japan. Our two students were joined the program from 22 Aug. 2018 to 4 Sep. 2018. In this program, students were leaned History and Culture of Thailand and experienced homestay with Thailand family. And they went to short trip to museum and famous temple and mangrove planting activities. During their first trip to Thailand, students were surprised by the traffic jams and lifestyle differences, but they also came into contact with different cultures and enjoyed short-term study abroad with local student’s interaction.

On November 16, 2018, Tohoku Institute of Technology and Thai-Nichi Institute of Technology held a joint symposium at Tohtech, Sendai. Symposium title was “Innovation in Electronics, Communication and Information Technology”. This symposium is held in order to develop the agreement on strengthening bilateral cooperation through close communication and opinion exchange. Prof. R. Varakulsiripunth gave a keynote lecture for future education system and research project in TNI. In Sessions, 8 researchers (4 researchers from TNI, and 4 researchers from Tohtech) gave a presentation of their own current research. Prof. M. Esashi (Tohoku University, Micro System Integration Center) gave a presentation as a guest speaker.

Chung Yuan Christian University in Taiwan holds a spring program every year for agreement university students in Japan. From our university, two students joined the program from 4 to 25 March 2018. This three week short term study program is students learned beginner course of Chinese language, and Taiwan’s history and culture. And students from Japan, they live together in the university dormitory, so itwas easy to make communicate with Taiwan’s students and other Japanese students. Chinese classes may be difficult, but program also had a small trip over the local sights and it was a training to be able to fully enjoy the Taiwan.

Thai-Nichi Institute of Technology in Thailand holds a cross culture program every year for agreement university students in Asia. From our university, one student joined the program from 10 to 24 March 2018. This program is students coming from other Asian country, so all class will talk by English. This program can touched the Thai historical sites and sights, and many experiences can be conducted with TNI students and the other country students, it will be improved their communication skills. Student who participated seemed to have returned home after receiving a lot of stimuli such as traveling abroad for the first time, experiences of food not in Japan conversation with foreigners.

On May 17 to 18, 2018 in Thailand, International Conference on Business and Industrial Research (IBCIR2018) hosted by Thai-Nichi Institute of Technology (TNI). From our university, 3 professor and 2 doctoral students attend the conference and had a presentation of research. And instead of President, Prof. Uesugi who is head of office of the president attend the conference for organizer. During the conference, Prof. Uesugi had a meeting for next joint symposium in Sendai with TNI President. In ICBIR2018, 125 presentation by 9 country, our 2 students award “Outstanding Paper Award”.

On May 18, 2018, Tohoku Institute of Technology and Daejin University (South Korea) carried out the signing ceremony of the International Partnership Agreement. Vice president Prof. Ishikawa, Prof. Kown and Mr. Meguro went to Daejin University, met President Prof. MyeonJae Lee and signed the MOU agreement. Before the signing ceremony, we visited each facility in Daejin university. After signing, we agreed to exchange opinions on concrete exchanges at both universities in the future and further strengthen friendship relations.
