The significance of international exchange
Tohoku Institute of Technology considers the objectives of its international exchange programs to be:
1
Providing opportunities for interaction with a large number of people as it aims to achieve engineering , architecture and life design studies with a human focus.
2
Aiming to be a university offering research and educational programs in fields highly satisfactory to international researchers and students.
3
Familiarizing students with international sensibilities by having them experience different cultures through interaction with people from other countries.
The experience of having understanding through interaction with people with different cultures and values makes people happier and makes their lives more rewarding. These can be described as activities that integrate specialized education with general education. To students both in Japan and around the world, this is an important process of mental training, and to the faculty members who carry out education and research, experiencing it for themselves can be put to use in their own self-development, education, and research.
In this sense, the university considers international exchange programs through acceptance of students and faculty members from overseas and sending its own students and faculty members abroad to be equally important, and the university is making efforts to improve an environment for these purposes.

(Chairperson, International Exchange Committee)
