Present-day civil engineering includes the area of environment engineering looking at natural environment such as soil, rivers, and oceans, as well as areas of structure such as material engineering and structural mechanics.
In other words, civil engineering is an integrated engineering discipline working with nature which require skills of various professional fields. To foster specialists who can deal with a wide range of engineering fields, students are assigned to laboratories from their first year. They get small-class instruction consistently and achieve a high degree of professionalism.
As seniors, students study the most advanced technology of bridgework, roadwork, and dam construction.
Since students can take specialized subjects from their first year, they will be able to enhance the level of their culture as well as achieve a high level of professionalism.
In addition, students will learn a proactive approach in civil engineering, well-rounded nature, and cooperativeness which are most necessary qualities in civil-engineering related industry through the personal instruction of professors and upperclassmen in closely supervised settings for four years.
Moreover, students will recognize their role as a full member of society as they actively participate in fieldwork and out-of-class activities. These activities contribute to character formation and to the motivation to get various qualifications.
